Pursuing Beauty Through Green Tea

Although Korean tea has a history of 1,000 years, it gradually faded into obscurity. Amorepacific founder Chairman Suh Sung-hwan hoped to promote Korean tea culture, firmly establishing his dedication to the beauty of green tea. The Jeju area was uncultivable wasteland until the 1970s. Through laborious processes of removing stones from the soil, lush green tea gardens were finally born. These are the predecessors of today's Soseokkja Tea Garden, Seogwang Tea Garden, and Hannam Tea Garden, spanning over hundreds of pyeong in Jeju Island. To this day, green tea has become Amorepacific's most representative ingredient and a very precious asset. The Perfect Growing Environment - Jeju Green Tea Garden

Geographically subtropical, Jeju Island formed by volcanic activity possesses the ideal environment for cultivating green tea. The most important factors in green tea cultivation are "sunlight and climate," where sunlight determines tea tree growth and green tea quality. "Volcanic ash soil" making up 80% of Jeju's soil has high porosity, providing timely nutrients, moisture, and air to green tea, with organic content over ten times higher than regular soil - ideal for green tea cultivation. The optimal annual temperature for tea tree cultivation is 14-16°C with minimum annual rainfall of 1600mm, making Jeju Island's Seogwipo the perfect place for green tea cultivation.

Amorepacific first launched the green tea cosmetics "Mamonde" in 1989, and began researching functional new green tea varieties in the 2000s.
